Dawn, which stands for Data about West Norfolk ( www.visitdawn.com), is the West Norfolk Partnership's on-line data observatory. The system contains over 1,300 local and national indicators covering a range of subjects such as population, health and crime statistics. The system is constantly up dated as new statistics become available.
All indicators can be viewed in a range of applications enabling users to produce maps, bar charts, tables, spider charts and scatter diagrams. Results from all of these can be easily transferred into reports or presentations.
The exciting new Place Profiles application is now alo available. This reporting function will enable users to create live ‘Place Profile' at a ward or district level on a range of topics such economy, crime, health and skills(See below for examples of these profiles). This new application uses the latest technology to create profiles that use the most up-to-date data at time of creation. The function can be found in the applications section either on the home page or by holding your cursor above applications of the top tool bar.
Dawn also has a research section which contains information and research documents from a variety of sources. If you are about to undertake research, it's a useful starting point to see what's already available or if you've just finished some, send us a copy of the report and we can post it on Dawn for others to read. If you collect data that you would like to compare to datasets already on Dawn, or you think would be useful to others, we can publish it on the site. For further information on Dawn and to request a username and password please contact Laura Beveridge, 01553 616251, laura.beveridge@west-norfolk.gov.uk.

In February 2006 the West Norfolk Partnership commissioned the Local Futures Group to carry out a ‘State of the Borough’ audit of its economic, social and environmental conditions. The report provides a unique insight into West Norfolk providing a headline analysis of the key issues and challenges that are facing the Borough both now and in the future.
By benchmarking economic, social, and environmental performance in both a local and a national context, Local Futures have also been able to produce ward profiles (scorecards) for each of the Borough’s 42 wards.
Both the 'State of the Borough' report and ward profiles are extremely informative and should prove to be a powerful and highly beneficial tool and of interest to all those with a part to play in making West Norfolk a place where people will want to live, work and visit.
All of the above documents and more are can be found on Dawn in the Research pages. |
