Food Fortnight is back again in 2008! Now in its fifth year with another programme that's bursting at the seams with workshops, talks, exhibitions, courses and demonstrations taking place across the borough. This mouth-watering spread of events for West Norfolk's very own food festival with a difference runs from 1st to 16th November and includes the welcome return of old favourites plus some tasty new additions.
The jam-packed programme has formal and informal events to suit everyone’s taste from chocolate and winter puddings, to port and sushi. The curious amongst us can explore the secrets of 'The Food on Your Plate' at The Green Quay, whilst those with an 'Appetite for Archaeology' can be satisfied at Downham Market High School. Celebrate and stock up on locally produced goodies at Food Fayres in Hunstanton and at Sandringham and with a number of restaurants and cafes offering special themed menus during the fortnight.
Budding scientists can explore the world of forensics at the College of West Anglia whilst history enthusiasts can find out more about Bronze Age food at a special presentation in the Seahenge gallery in Lynn Museum. You can even try a foreign language taster session with food tasting included! There are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors and burn off some of those extra calories with guided walks at Pensthorpe, Flitcham and Stow Bardolph and a special family event at RSPB Titchwell.
Don’t miss out on the spectacular 'Around the World in Eighty Dishes', a celebration of food from across the globe, being held at Lynnsport on November 16th.
Programmes are available from participating organisations, local libraries, Tourist Information Centre and facilities run by the Borough Council. Alternatively, you can order your free copy by calling the brochure hotline on 01553 616780 or visit the website, www.foodfortnight.co.uk, for full details.
